New to NA?

Your first NA meeting

Going to your first meeting can feel unfamiliar. There is nothing you need to prepare and you do not have to explain yourself.

  1. 01

    Can I just show up?

Yes. There is no registration or appointment required.

  2. 02

    Does NA cost anything?

There are no membership fees. Groups are self-supporting through voluntary contributions from members; you are not expected to give anything.

  3. 03

    Do I have to speak?

No. You are welcome to listen.

  4. 04

    Who can attend?

Closed meetings are for addicts or people who think they may have a drug problem. Open meetings are open to anyone interested in learning about Narcotics Anonymous. Each meeting listing shows which type it is where known.

  5. 05

    What happens in a meeting?

Members gather together and share their experience with addiction and recovery. Meetings may include readings, personal sharing, discussion of the Twelve Steps, or another recovery topic.

  6. 06

Do I have to believe in God?

No. NA is a spiritual, not religious, program. Members are free to come to their own understanding of a Higher Power — or none at all.

  7. 07

What if I'm not sure I'm an addict?

You are still welcome to come to an appropriate meeting and listen.

Ready when you are.
